What to Expect

After extensive works in 2017, has Casa Vicens been restored to its original splendor and takes its visitors back to Gaudí’s beginnings and the birth of Catalan modern architecture.

Commissioned by Manuel Vicens i Montaner, a wealthy stockbroker, Casa Vicens was built between 1883-85. Influenced by Neo-Mudéjar architecture, Gaudí designed the house in the upcoming art nouveau style, using vibrant colours and a variety of materials, such as iron, glass, ceramic tiles and concrete. In 1925 the house underwent renovations, in which the house and garden were extended and the entrance and main floor modified, still maintaining Gaudí’s original design.

Take a tour through Casa Vicens, which will bring you not only closer to understanding Gaudí’s architecture but also give you deeper insight into Barcelona’s history. Learn through an audiovisual presentation how urban planning changed the face of the city at the turn of the century and understand the social, cultural and artistic context, in which Casa Vicens was designed.

There  is a multilingual guide ( English, Spanish and French)   on each floor of Casa Vicens,  that will give you detailed information on the aspects of the room you are visiting. This is a wonderful experience to understand the work of Gaudi and Gaudi himself.
